Departures: Departs 2 times Monday-Friday at 9:00 am and 2:00 pm and Saturday only at 9:00 am from the tour departure point in Playa Cocles, just 10 minutes South of Puerto Viejo. Children: This excursion is recommended for adults only.
Restrictions: All ages welcome. However, keep in mind you need to be able to mount, dismount the horses with minimal assistance. Horseback riding can be uncomfortable for those with back or hip problems. Pregnant women are not able to participate. For the safety and comfort of our horses, the maximum weight for our larger horses is 100 kg (215 lbs). To ensure we have the best horse ready for you, we ask that you provide your height, approximate weight, and your previous horseback riding experience in the special instructions box.
Important Policy Note: Caribe Horse Riding Club depends on donations and tour sales in order to keep their horse refuge & rehabilitation project operational. They also limit the number of horses they will use per day for the health of the horses. Spaces are very limited and book well in advance, so they cannot afford to lose out on last minute cancellations. That said, they have strict cancellation policy that requires full payment a minimum of 1 week prior, and no cancellations within one week as well. This supersedes our regular cancellation policies. Upon booking you agree to this cancellation policy. If you are looking to book a tour within the next few days, please contact us first to confirm spacing available. Pricing is based on a minimum of 2 people and taxes are not included in the balance paid to the provider.
Insider Tip: This is by far one of the most romantic vacation activities in Puerto Viejo. I mean really, this is storybook material. However, you do not have to go with your romantic partner. Bring along your best friend instead! It is just the perfect combo to really enjoy the Pura Vida of Costa Rica. Pssst...it is also perfect for wedding proposals too.... hint hint honey!
Important Booking Note Specific to Caribe Horse Club: Due to increased demand, this tour provider requires full payment within 24-48 hours after the initial booking to guarantee the spaces. They are also enforcing a stricter cancellation policy than our traditional 36 hour cancellation policy. For that reason, we recommend you place your booking and make the payment no more than 30 days in advance with 100% intent to do this excursion. Within 30 days, the penalty for cancellation is 60%, within 15 days it is 80%, and there are no refunds at all within 72 hours. This is an amazing experience in Puerto Viejo, and if it tops your bucket list, we hope to help arrange it for you as we are sure it will be an experience of a lifetime.
