The Rio Celeste is a treasure to the Ticos as evidenced by their vote to name it one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Costa Rica. Legend has it that when God finished painting the sky, he washed his brushes in the Rio Celeste, giving it the otherworldly blue hue for which it is known. In reality the Rio Celeste is born at the convergence of two different rivers with completely different chemical makeup. When they combine, they react, creating the undeniably beautiful blue water which meanders in the most picture-perfect way through the Tenorio National Park. But hey, we will let our super naturalist guides fill in the details.

As we hike throughout the Tenorio National Park, we´ll learn more about the rich crater valley between the Tenorio & Miravalles Volcanos and the importance of this sacred land to the Costa Rican people. Exuberant flora and a menagerie of fauna will be our companions while we take in the sights and sounds that make this region so special.

The Heliconias hanging bridges offer a unique perspective on the rainforest canopy, and you´ll see why as soon as you cross one! Over 70% of Costa Rica´s animals live in the canopy, so a lot of activity takes place in the forest and you will be eye to eye with them all. Hanging bridges in Costa Rica provide ample opportunity for study and discovery, and has long been a tool used by scientists to uncover the secrets of the rain forest. Our guides hope to share a few of those secrets with you too!
