Children: Minimum age is 4 years old and they can paddle or accompanied by an adult who can paddle for them. If you have small children, it is advised you bring your own life jacket to ensure it fits properly.
Restrictions: Like all water sports in Costa Rica, we recommend you to be in good physical shape to try stand up paddle boarding in Tamarindo.
Insider Tip: Tamarindo is perfect for SUP. The trip out to Captain Island is short, so just enough time for you to get the hang of things before getting a rest break. Paddle boarding is also a great alternative to surfing for those that are not super strong swimmers. It is amazing how stable the boards are and how easy it is to stand up and paddle them. You will feel like a pro in no time.
