Can you think of any better place to take in the breathtaking views of the Arenal Volcano than sipping cocktails on the deck of the ONLY hotel in Costa Rica located in the Arenal Volcano National Park? We didn’t think so. See why the Arenal Observatory Lodge and gardens should top your list of things to do in Costa Rica. Join our Arenal Observatory Volcano tour today!
There Arenal Observatory Lodge & Gardens encompasses over 850 acres of rainforest, pastures, hot spring rivers and waterfalls. The lodge itself was built as a scientific observation station for the Smithsonian Research Institute. When the Arenal Volcano National Park was formed in 1991, the boundaries encompassed the ranch. This is how Arenal Observatory Lodge came to be located within the National Park. How fortuitous! Now, the Arenal Observatory Lodge and it’s 11 km (7 mi) of manicured trails is one of the top places in Costa Rica to explore volcanoes.
This Arenal Volcano tour takes you on a guided journey to explore the garden trails & the magnificent views of the volcano. With 270 acres of primary rainforest, your guide will help you spot the resident monkeys & many of the 500 species of tropical birds found here such as toucans! We will spend a couple hours exploring the grounds before heading to the observation deck. From this vantage point, we will have one last time to watch the sun setting over Lake Arenal. As we head back into town, we will seek out one of Costa Rica’s most popular mascots, the red-eyed tree frog.
Next it is time to relax in the soothing waters of the natural hot springs. The volcanic mud that lines the river is famous for its healing qualities, so lathe up! Who needs to pay for a hot springs resort? Everything can be found in nature on this unique little spot at the base of Arenal. Our day finishes with a signature celebratory cocktail as you relax in the hot springs and reflect on your amazing day.
