Good morning sunshine! Are you ready for an all-day adventure? Good because we've got a lot in store for you today. We're going to saunter through the Arenal rainforest, discover the La Fortuna Waterfalls and experience the region’s best white water rafting river. How do you pack all that into one day? In three ways: on horseback, on our own two feet, and lastly, on a raft. Let's get this party started!
Horseback Riding La Fortuna
It's early in the morning, but we've got a lot to do! Let's get our healthy, strong and well-behaved horses to assist on this first leg, shall we? First on our checklist is horseback riding Arenal's beautiful rainforest region. Our friendly bilingual guide will pair us up with the best horse for our size and skill level, and then off we go! Wide, well-maintained trails are easy to navigate and allow us to take in the gorgeous rolling green hills of La Fortuna's serene lowland junglescape.
La Fortuna Waterfall Hike
Awake yet? Good, now go take a hike! After we say "adios" to our horses, it's time to make our way to one of the more impressive stops on our tour. Next stop on our checklist? A visit with the incredible 70 meter waterfall, aptly called La Fortuna Waterfall. Take a listen from the trail head, the La Fortuna Waterfall is as powerful as it sounds!
The La Fortuna hiking trails will bring us down, down, down via well-manicured steps surrounded by misty jungle. As we arrive at the base, the rushing water cascades down from high above and we've got time for a quick dip if you're in the mood. Keep in mind, all that hiking down means we have to come back up, so a cooling dip may be the perfect way to prepare for your ascent.
White Water Rafting La Fortuna - Balsa River Class II/III Rapids
Well if you weren't in the mood for a dip before, you should get in the mood fast! White water rafting Balsa river is up next, and you're about to get soaked! Calm pools spill out into long drops, and suddenly adrenaline-pumping Class II-III rapids are coming right at you! During this somewhat challenging but very fun ride, don't forget to look around once in a while, because the scenery along the Balsa River is gorgeous.
